Joshua A. Gann of Rogersville is facing one count of child pornography and nine counts of second-degree statutory rape, all class D felonies, following an investigation by Clinton Police. The investigation began by Clinton authorities on Oct. 12, 2021, after responding to a suspicious vehicle call and finding Gann, age 40, having intercourse with a 16-year old. Gann was taken into custody, where he declined to answer questions, leading authorities to question the teen about the situation. more
This Halloween there is no limit of activities to keep anyone from ages 5 to 55 busy. Among the various Trunk-or-Treats hosted throughout the area, trick-or-treat the Marshfield Square and several spooky houses there are also several Haunted Houses to partake in right here in Webster County. more
On Oct. 12, the Marshfield Mail reported that Boy Scout Lilly Stevens would partner with the Village of Diggins on her Eagle Scout project. This project features a memorial dedicated to all military members. On Oct. 20, the official groundbreaking ceremony was held, which featured speeches from Diggins City Council members thanking Stevens and honoring those who serve. more

Making quite the racquet this season was The Logan-Rogersville Girls’ Tennis Team as they lobbed and clawed to sectionals. The Lady Wildcats are the only tennis team representing Webster County. The team has taken on schools from all over Missouri, including Lee Summit, Joplin, Bolivar, and Helinas Catholic from Jefferson City. more
On October 16, 2022, around 3:00 a.m. Officer Vines of the Missouri State Highway Patrol was working his shift when according to the probable cause statement he noticed a blue Chevrolet Silverado pulled off onto the mile marker 100 exit. Officer Vines approached the vehicle and found the driver asleep behind the wheel with his foot on the brake and the truck in drive. Officer Vines attempted to make contact with the driver, but when he got no response he began to flash his light, shouting and smacking his hand against the window. more
Linda Dickinson from the Webster County Museum was recently the guest speaker at the October meeting of the Cherry Blossom Festival Auxiliary at the Webster County Library in Marshfield. Dickinson spoke about the Museum and the Webster County Historical Society’s history. Following the meeting, several auxiliary members walked over to the Museum for a tour. The Cherry Blossom Festival Auxiliary is the volunteer organization of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival and works annually to support the festival with volunteer hours and needed resources. They traditionally sponsor the Cherry Blossom Quilt Show, Teacher’s Breakfast, assist with the Cherry Blossom Tea and take care of the festival merchandise table. They also take several educational and historical trips throughout the year. The following officers were elected for the 2023 festival season: Jeanette Alcorn (President); Sarah Inman (Vice President); Jill Campbell (Secretary); Rachel Andrews (Treasurer) and Joyce Inman (Chaplain). more
Recycling plastic from bottles and containers, boxes, paper, and certain metals has become common. Curbside service of many of these may even be available to some Marshfield Mail readers. However, if you slow down on your way into a Wal-Mart, you may notice, if you haven’t already, that there are giant tubs, off to the sides of the entrances, where shopping bags can be recycled. Other locations offer this handy recycling option, as well, like Targets. more

On Oct. 15, the City of Niangua hosted their 1st Annual Fall festival. The event included a costume competition, pumpkin carving, chili cook-off, craft booths and food trucks. more
Tuesday, November 8 is voting day. The County Clerk’s office is in charge of administrative duties for the whole county, which includes voter registration, and running the elections. Stanley Whitehurst, Webster County Clerk, talked to the Marshfield Mail about the big day. “We’re expecting a heavy turnout,” he anticipates. more

Students heading to in Niangua R-V schools Tuesday morning were told to brace for a potentially cold day at school. Temperatures dipped into the twenties and administration sent out an all call stating, “We are replacing the HVAC systems before winter which may cause chilly classrooms as fall temps drop. Please, dress appropriately.” more
