JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Transportation invites Missouri students in grades K-8 to help fight litter in Missouri – and to have creative and educational fun – by participating in the 2023 “Yes You CAN Make Missouri Litter-Free” trash-can-decorating contest. Following an incident in the early morning of Jan. 29, Marshfield citizen Lane Barger faces two Class E Felonies of property damage and unlawful use of a weapon. He also faces an unclassified felony of armed criminal action and a Class B Felony of assault in the 1st degree. more
Fordland Resident Chad Gibson was charged with a Class D Felony for abuse or neglect of a child on Jan. 25. According to a probable cause statement from the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch reported a domestic disturbance in Fordland on Jan. 24. When Authorities arrived, he spoke to the victim, who explained an incident between themselves and Gibson. Authorities noticed the victim had marks on their body that matched their story. When authorities  questioned Gibson about the incident, he denied anything occurred. more
On Jan. 31, 2023, 56 Missouri Silver Haired Legislature (SHL) delegates and coordinators participated in a regular meeting of the Board of Directors, received words of encouragement from various luminaries, and delivered advocacy messages to their respective Legislators. more
Paul Ray Walker, of Logan-Rogersville, is facing a Class D Felony for Endangering The Welfare Of A Child Creating Substantial Risk in the 1st Degree after an incident that occurred on Nov. 5, 2022. Walker is also charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering With a Witness In A Felony Prosecution in a related incident on Jan. 15, 2023. more

As the winter precipitation continues to sweep through the Ozarks, the slick roads can make for dangerous driving conditions. A slip off the road resulted in a driver stuck on the railroad tracks Monday, but several citizens in Niangua stepped up to help. Immediately after veering from the roadway onto the railroad tracks in town, seven men jumped out of their vehicles and came running from the gas station to start pushing. When that didn’t work, a chain and truck were utilized to help get her off the tracks, reminding us of the neighborly acts of kindness that are often displayed in Webster County communities. more

On Jan. 11, 2023, one student was surprised when presented with a new mechanical wheelchair. It was made possible by a local organization called TLC Student Funds, which paid the insurance deductible to purchase the wheelchair. more
Saturday, Jan. 28, was a big day for robot fans. It was the FIRST Tech Challenge League Tournament. 28 schools from all over Missouri and Kansas participated, with the top five moving on to the Missouri Kansas Championship on Mar. 4, 2023. Two of the team hoping for a spot was non-other than Strafford's varsity team, Arrow Flight, and Freshman team Broken Arrow. more
May of 1962 saw 25 men gather at Belle’s Cafe to start an Optimist Club; of the 25 men present, a young Mac Case was among the 25 and is still an active member to this day. Although for 61 years, the Optimist Club may have changed in terms of members and concepts. One core concept has remained: to challenge its members to encompass the optimist club creed and use their optimism to make a difference for the youth of Webster County. more
