Stock up your quivers and draw your strings; August 26 will be the 17th Annual Outdoor Sportsman Event, also known as The Bow Shoot, hosted by The Webster County Baptist Association. The event offers a variety of entertainment for both adults and children. Last year around 850 people participated in the Bow shoot, and at least 500 attended the event's church service.

On Aug. 3, the Webster Electric Co-Op held its third quarter Round-Up grant distribution meeting. Webster Electric gave $3,300 to OACAC-Webster County Neighborhood Center, which will use the funds for back-to-school vouchers and Darkness to Light training.

Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to help out in the community. Regardless of who you are, everyone can help in one way or another. Over a few weeks in June into July, the Marshfield Action Sports Syndicate (MASS) held a volunteering event to repaint teeter-totters at Hartley Park, located at 325 N Clay St, Marshfield.

Each year in July, this action-filled three days provides high school students opportunities to learn first-hand what it is like to be involved in politics, the cooperative form of business and being a leader. The program included nationally known speakers and time at the Missouri State Capitol learning how a bill goes through the process to become a law.

Cattle farmers and livestock owners must be aware that something could lurk in the grass. An invasive species called the Longhorned tick has been going through the U.S. and recently in Missouri. This tick has already cost millions of dollars to livestock producers worldwide.
