Following an incident in the early morning of Jan. 29, Marshfield citizen Lane Barger faces two Class E Felonies of property damage and unlawful use of a weapon. He also faces an unclassified felony of armed criminal action and a Class B Felony of assault in the 1st degree. more
Fordland Resident Chad Gibson was charged with a Class D Felony for abuse or neglect of a child on Jan. 25. According to a probable cause statement from the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch reported a domestic disturbance in Fordland on Jan. 24. When Authorities arrived, he spoke to the victim, who explained an incident between themselves and Gibson. Authorities noticed the victim had marks on their body that matched their story. When authorities  questioned Gibson about the incident, he denied anything occurred. more

Saturday, Jan. 28, was a big day for robot fans. It was the FIRST Tech Challenge League Tournament. 28 schools from all over Missouri and Kansas participated, with the top five moving on to the Missouri Kansas Championship on Mar. 4, 2023. Two of the team hoping for a spot was non-other than Strafford's varsity team, Arrow Flight, and Freshman team Broken Arrow. more
May of 1962 saw 25 men gather at Belle’s Cafe to start an Optimist Club; of the 25 men present, a young Mac Case was among the 25 and is still an active member to this day. Although for 61 years, the Optimist Club may have changed in terms of members and concepts. One core concept has remained: to challenge its members to encompass the optimist club creed and use their optimism to make a difference for the youth of Webster County. more
