Time to hit some targets

Posted

Stock up your quivers and draw your strings; August 26 will be the 17th Annual Outdoor Sportsman Event, also known as The Bow Shoot, hosted by The Webster County Baptist Association. The event offers a variety of entertainment for both adults and children. Last year around 850 people participated in the Bow shoot, and at least 500 attended the event's church service.

"Nothing is changing from last year to this year," said Mitch Fisher, Director of the Webster County Baptist Association. "We're going to have a lot of churches volunteer and participate. So it should be a terrific year."

The event will kick off at 7 a.m. and wrap up at 5 p.m. No need to worry about food or drinks.

"All the churches will have food they will be giving out, and we will have pulled pork sandwiches, hotdogs, chips, water, and soda for free," said Fisher.

The event will be held at Camp Arrowhead, but there is no parking at the camp itself. Visitors must park at the Marshfield High School and receive a shuttle to and from the school to the event.

The Bow Shoot will include 3-D shooting ranges open to everyone that uses compound or recurve bows. The event is an excellent place for those who wish to become the next Hawkeye or Katniss Everdeen. The best part is it only costs $10 to shoot, and anyone under ten can participate at no charge.

If shooting the bow was not enough, how about prizes? Prizes will be available to random drawing winners throughout the event.

Winners must be present to claim their prize.

"We're just really excited," said Fisher. "It's a good community and outreach event. You don't have to be a shooter or bowhunter to appreciate it."

So if you or someone wants to get some practice for the upcoming hunting season or like to make arrows fly, come check out the 17th Annual Outdoor Sportsman Event on August 26. For further details or to register, visit the Webster County Baptist Association website at www.webcobaptist.org.
