One last game...

Posted

Recent Conway High School graduates Trista Simpson and Maddy Officer expected to have pitched the final innings and swung the last swings of their softball careers after the spring semester ended.

However, the pair was selected by the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association to spend one last day playing the game they love, as a Conway Bear.

To participate in this softball showcase, players must be selected by the board of the MHSFCA and invited to play. Many schools did not have any students selected.

Conway had two.

On Wednesday, May 29, dozens of recently graduated softball players from schools around the state of Missouri gathered at Mizzou's softball field to play in a two-game Senior Showcase.

Though the ladies had fun catching a glimpse of the coming years in their softball careers, their families felt a wide array of emotions.

"Oh gosh," welled Trista's mother, Tiffany Simpson. "It's emotional for sure. It was neat to see her on a college field and it was just an amazing eperience for these girls. Both will be playing in college next year and I can't wait to see what they do."

Now that their high school softball days are officially over, Trista Simpson will head to Missouri State University – West Plains and continue her softball career there. Maddy Officer will head to Harrison, Ark. where she'll glove up for the North Arkansas College Lady Pioneers.

"They're really enjoying themselves and making new friends," Tiffany added. "I am proud of their dedication to the game they love."
