Homecoming Showdown: Marshfield Blue Jays take on state-ranked Branson Pirates

Posted

The excitement is building as the Marshfield Blue Jays prepare for their Homecoming game this Friday night against the Class 5, No. 8 ranked Branson Pirates. The festivities kick off Wednesday evening with a parade starting at 5 p.m., making its way from the square to the high school, followed by a Powder Puff football game at 6 p.m.

On Friday, students can join the tailgate party beginning at 5 p.m., leading up to the Coronation ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The stage is set for kickoff at 7 p.m. as the 3-2 Blue Jays look to bounce back from last week’s tough loss against Bolivar.

In their previous matchup, the Blue Jays struggled against the Liberators, who dominated the first half and led 33-0 at halftime. Marshfield managed only one first down in the first half, as Bolivar scored touchdowns on all five of their initial possessions. Trailing 40-0 with just under nine minutes left in the third quarter, the Jays finally mounted a scoring drive.

Tyce Jones sparked the offense with an electrifying 47-yard kickoff return, setting up a touchdown connection between Carson Adams and Talon Funk for a 22-yard score. The Blue Jays added another late score, but the game ended with Bolivar defeating Marshfield 47-13.

With a challenging opponent in Branson on the horizon, the Blue Jays are eager to turn the tide at Homecoming and rally their fans. Come out and support your team as they aim for a triumphant return to the field!
