All through the town, Mrs. Jo Jones' bus wheels went round and round. For 33 years, she ensured Marshfield R-1 school district students safely made it to their destinations. After all this time, Jones decided to hang up the keys and drove her bus one last time on Wednesday, Dec 21, 2022. more

Logan-Rogersville School District is hosting an open event. It is free for the community and will help raise awareness about our children's technological world and how we can reach, teach and support them. In addition, there will be a film screening of the documentary Childhood 2.0. Afterward, Katey McPherson from Bark for Schools will lead a discussion and question-answer session. There are two opportunities to attend, January 3rd or 4th, at the Logan Rogersville High School Auditorium at 300 N. Missouri Blvd, Rogersville, MO. more

It’s no secret that the teacher shortage is one worth taking note of; the number of positions open in the local school districts and the number of teachers applying to fill those positions has tipped in the last few years. more

The Marshfield Lady Jays swim team traveled to Webb City on Saturday December 10 to compete in the Red Bird Invitational. The team placed fourth overall. more

A few weeks ago, on Dec. 8, the students of Fordland got an early Christmas present as Mid AM Metal Forming donated 34 bicycles to the Fordland Care to Learn outreach. more

On Friday, Dec 16, the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats took on the West Plains Zizzers. Both teams had a burning passion for winning on that cold night, but only one would win. So, whose fire burned brighter? more

The Marshfield High School Speech and Debate team has been off to a great year. The team has competed in multiple tournaments and taken home several trophies. Here is an update from the most recent tournament and back. more

The Marshfield boys wrestling team took first overall in Bolivar this past week with several wrestlers bringing home medals. more

Last Tuesday, Nov 22, just before Thanksgiving break, the students of Webster Elementary gathered for their first quarter Soaring BlueJays Assembly. This assembly is held in honor of students chosen by teachers who demonstrate academic excellence or leadership skills. Twenty-nine students were given a red carpet walk with awards, cheer from the assembly, a certificate, and 3D printed dog tags. more

Hitting the courts and starting their 2022 season was the Marshfield Boys basketball team. The Jay's first opponent of the season was the Forsyth Panthers. The first quarter appeared to be an even match with a score of 17-17. During that same quarter, Marshfield would score a trio of three-pointers: two by #2 Merrick Dennis and by #4 Tegen Curley. The rest of the game, though, would see the Panthers prowl and lead the board. The game would end with Forsyth winning 70 to Marshfield 62. more

Last Friday, the students of Logan-Rogersville High school experienced their 8th Annual Career Day. During the day, students learned more about potential careers and the steps to get into those fields. Professions gathered from medical, automotive, law enforcement, and more. All eager to teach the students. more

Things geared up at the Strafford High School last Saturday, Nov 12, as FIRST was back for another season of robots, problem-solving, and, most importantly, teamwork. 21 teams participated, ranging from Camdenton, Mountain Grove, and Strafford. Teams were comprised of various grades and ages, ranging from fourth grade to seniors in high school. more

Basketball is not the only sport hitting the floors this winter. Additionally, high school wrestling will be begin and Webster County has some very talented athletes ready to hit the mats. The Marshfield Mail reached out to the both the Marshfield and Logan-Rogersville wrestling coaches to get a sneak peek before the season kicks off. more

Growing up, adults and schools offered various rewards for reading. Maybe it was a field trip, an ice cream party, or pizza. Then, in 1984, Pizza Hut began a reading program called Book It! The program encourages kids from pre-k to sixth grade to read. In exchange, they get a free personal pizza for free. Schools took off with the program after that. more

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" As kids, we would give answers such as an astronaut, president, or bullfighter, which was fun. But, as years went on, that little question started to loom over and cast a shadow filled with anxiety and dread, primarily as graduation from high school drew closer.
