Fall Baseball

The Conway Bears held their annual Fall Classic over the weekend. The Bears defeated Carthage 3-2. The rest of the tournament was rained out. Conway’s matchup against Dixon has been postponed.

Brixon Bilyeu carried the Bears through the first six innings. Issac Freeman closed the game out.

Conway traveled to Mansfield to compete against the Lions on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

Fordland faced off against Mansfield on Friday, Aug. 25 at their home field. The Eagles would lose 0-13.

Forldand traveled to Hartville on Monday, Aug. 28. The Eagles lost 4-7.

Softball

The Marshfield Lady Jays played at the Halfway Softball tournament over the weekend. The team went for a three-game sweep, taking a first-place plaque back home to Marshfield.

Marshfield traveled to Parkview to take on the Vikings at their field on Monday, Aug 28. After turning in 22 runs to the Vikings’ 0, the Lady Jays returned home with a record of 4-0.

Logan-Rogersville started their season off with two wins: one against Doniphan (5-2) on Saturday, Aug. 26, and the other vs. Twin Rivers (3-0) the same day. The Wildcats hosted Aurora on Tuesday, Aug. 29. See next week’s edition of The Marshfield Mail to see how the Lady Wildcats did.

Soccer

Marshfield started their season on the field with a matchup against the Fair Grove Eagles. The Jays took home the W, beating Fair Grove 2-1.

The Jays played the Camdenton Lakers on Monday, Aug. 28 at home.

The Lakers struck early and expanded their lead to 4-0 at halftime. Camdenton would score four more goals in the second half. The Jays couldn’t find the back of the net and ended the game 8-0.

“Camdenton is a quality program,” said head coach Tom Searson. “As the season goes on, we will gel together and become a more cohesive unit. While the game didn’t go the way we wanted it to, we learned a lot about the pace of play needed to compete at the Class 3 level. We are hoping to rebound and come out strong against Crocker.”

The Jays will play Crocker on Thursday, Aug. 21.

Logan-Rogersville Soccer has started the season off strong 2-0 after the Lebanon Kickoff Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26-27. The championship round was canceled due to heat.

“Our freshman woke up,” said Coach Brett Wubbena. “They were a bit nervous to start the game but came alive for us to hold Greenwood, who was a counter-attacking machine of a team. We faced Carl Junction down a couple of players, and ended up winning after a penalty kick shootout.”

The Wildcats face off against Hillcrest on Thursday, Aug. 31 at their field.

Swim

The Marshfield swim team traveled to Carthage for their first meet of the season on Tuesday, Aug. 29. Find out how they did in next week’s edition of The Marshfield Mail.

rls Tennis

The Lady Wildcats opened their tennis season with a tournament at the Joplin Interstate Championships from Aug. 25-26. On the first day, Logan-Rogersville would defeat Bishop LeBlond 5-4 in their first-round match. The Lady Wildcats would then face Rogers, where they lost 0-5.

The next day, Rogersville lost Carl Junction 0-5, followed by two wins against Harrisonville (5-1) and Mexico (5-1).

On Monday, Aug. 28, the Lady Wildcats traveled to Mt. Vernon. The Lady Wildcats left with a 9-0 victory over the Mountaineers.

Rogersville hosted Helias Catholic on Tuesday, Aug. 29 for their next matches.
