Two companies, Upside Meat and Upside Foods, were recently approved by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration to produce and sell cell-cultivated chicken in the United States. Cell-cultivated meat uses real animal cells grown in labs to produce safe and sanitary meat without raising or slaughtering any animals.  more

The City of Rogersville’s Annual Independence Day Celebration starts on Saturday, June 24 at 3 p.m. at the City Park, 270 County Line Road. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. with floats lining up at 4 p.m. and the event is held light rain or shine. The theme for this year’s parade is “Honoring our Veterans.” more

A Greene County pursuit resulted in the arrest of a Springfield man Sunday night in Marshfield. 20-year-old Tylinn Javon White led Greene County deputies on a chase to Webster County, where the suspect fled from his vehicle on foot about two miles west of Marshfield on Genetti Lane.  more
Marshfield Junior High School students got their hands wet and their feet muddy last week with a Thursday morning trip to North Park. Mrs. Jennifer Lashley and Mrs. Sandy Cottengim’s 7th and 8th grade summer school classes are working on terrariums as part of their curriculum. more
On June 6, MaKoy Miller Gehrke pleaded not guilty before Judge Michael Hendrickson. Ten days later, on June 16, Gehrke was back in the courtroom with his attorney for a bond hearing. The bond was set at $100,000 with the conditions being that if posted, he is to be on house arrest with electric monitoring and to have no contact with any person under 18 years old. more

The Logan Rogersville Fire Protection District has added several new members to the team this quarter. Firefighters Daniel Brown, Chris Halsell, Ryan Mihalochick, Alex White and Austin Ferguson all recently joined up to help with the 160 square miles that the District covers. Brian Rocker, Nathan Cleghorn, Kullen Boyce and Michael Metcalf all recieved their pins following a one year probationary period. more
