Soccer Season kicks off

Posted

Soccer Season has kicked off officially in Webster County. For the Marshfield Girls Soccer team, their first game was against St. James high school on Mar. 17. In that game, Junior Calli Watson scored six goals, with fellow junior Anna Offutt and Senior Eiley Manary also scoring goals. Luck was definitely on the Jays' side, as they beat the Tigers with a score of 8-0. The Jays would then play West Plains and win 3-2 via penalty kicks on Mar. 21. The kicks were provided this time by Watson, freshmen Allysyn Marriott and Brianna Hanson. The winning kick was from sophomore Tia Snow.

Meanwhile, the Logan-Rogersville Girls Soccer team started their season with a tournament. On Mar. 17, the team would take on two teams on the same day. The first match was against tournament hosts Lebanon. Junior Nikki Wood scored one goal in that game, while Sophomore Kita Wood scored two. The Wildcats would win against Lebanon 3-0. Their second match was against Crocker, where L-R would keep the ball and wins rolling, beating Crocker with a final score of 8-0. Unfortunately, L-R could not keep the streak going. They would fall to Webb City with the final score of 0-1 on Mar. 18.

Keep reading the Marshfield Mail as we will continue to follow both teams throughout the 2023 season.
