The Missouri FFA Association recognized Ellie Wantland of the Niangua FFA chapter as the Area 10 Star in Placement. Wantland is the daughter of Jeff and LeeAnn Wantland, Niangua. Her advisor is Caitlin Brown.
Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a student's supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 10 includes 22 chapters in the Southwest District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, Mo., sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.
Wantland’s SAE program comprises employment at Wantland Dairy Farms. Wantland’s duties involve every aspect of the dairy operation, including milking, feeding, maintaining health records and implementing breeding programs. In addition to her placement program, Wantland also has a small herd of breeding swine.
Wantland has served as an area officer, as well as chapter president and vice president. She competed at the state level in the dairy cattle evaluation and poultry evaluation career development events (CDE) and at the district level in dairy foods and FFA knowledge CDEs. Wantland also has exhibited dairy cattle at the state and national level.
In addition to FFA, Wantland is involved with volleyball, Future Business Leaders of America and 4-H. She is a member of the Missouri Holstein Association and Missouri Guernsey Association.
After high school, Wantland plans to use her knowledge and experience to continue working in agriculture.
