The Marshfield High School boys golf team played in the Ozark Invitational tournament at Fremont Hills Country Club last Thursday, April 11.
Twenty-two area teams, totaling over 100 golfers, battled the winds to see who could take home the top prize.
Wyatt Davis rebounded from a few bad holes to card a 79, just missing a medal by 2 strokes. Michael Alves followed with an 87, Ryker Letterman scored a 93, Logan Kisner shot a 97, and Jackson Gardner ended up with a 105.
“This wasn’t our best team score but considering the conditions and a more difficult course than we’re used to, I wasn’t surprised that scores were higher,” said Coach Reggie Smith. “I feel like the tough competition and harder golf courses will only prepare us better for districts which will be played at Briarbrook Country Club in Carl Junction on Monday, May 6.”
The MHS boys golf team’s next varsity tournament will be held on Thursday, April 18 at Greene Hills Golf Course in Willard, where Michael Alves and will try and defend his first place finish from a year ago.
