Give Blood this holiday season

Posted

With the giving season upon us, consider giving the gift of life by donating blood. Readers considering giving will have a chance Thursday, Dec. 21, from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to donate blood at the Marshfield Senior Center at 427 W. Washington Street, Marshfield. to the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO).

The organization supplies blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at 44 healthcare facilities in the area. They are encouraging community members to wrap up the year by saving lives. While supplies last, donors will receive a fleece blanket, a great way to warm up this winter.

The donations collected by the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks provide blood for patients at Mercy Hospital Lebanon, CoxHealth South, Mercy Hospital Springfield, and over 40 other healthcare facilities across the Ozarks.

“We tend to see an increase in the need for blood in the winter months and around the holidays,” said Michelle Teter, CBCO Media Relations Representative. “With just an hour of your time, you can give the best gift this holiday season, the gift of life. Your gift is one a hospital patient will never forget. One day, it might be your own loved one who needs a blood transfusion. Please consider making a blood donation appointment today.”

The organization wants to thank all the blood donors from the past, present, and future, all from across the region, for giving life to your community.

Readers are encouraged to set an appointment if they want to skip waiting. To schedule an appointment, visit the CBCO’s website at www.cbco.org/donate-blood/ or call 417-227-5006.
