Drunk, Disorderly and Resisting Arrest

Posted

On Aug. 3, Officer Seery of the Marshfield P.D. responded to a call at the Holiday Inn in Marshfield. A call had come in to dispatch from the Holiday Inn stating that “a male…was drunk and threatening the female staff that were trying to get him out of the pool and off the hotel property…”

Upon arrival at the scene Officer Seery identified William Stevens Ehrlich III as the man in question.

According to the probable cause statement, Officer Seery spoke to two hotel staff who told him that they had “…asked Ehrlich to leave but he refused.” Another employee stated that Ehlrich appeared to be intoxicated and threatened hotel staff by “… saying he was going to push her into the pool…”. The employee also told Officer Seery he was threatening to throw various items into the pool. Employees confirmed Ehrilch was staying at the hotel.

After speaking with hotel employees, Officer Seery spoke with Ehrlich who confirmed he had been drinking and that he was “going to prison in Texas tomorrow for a couple felonies he committed.”

While Officer Seery spoke with Ehrlich, Officer Vaclavicek and Corporal Ford arrived on the scene as back up officers. This appeared to agitate Ehrlich who, according to the probable cause stated, yelled profanity and took a threatening step toward Officer Vaclavicek.

Officer Vaclavick and Corporal Ford proceeded to escort Ehrlich to Officer Seery’s patrol car, however according to Officer Seery “…it appeared Ehrlich locked his knees in order to resist Valavicek and Ford…” At that point Officer Seery and Officer Chism, who was also on scene, went to assist. Ehrlich then started kicking towards officer Vaclavicek and Corporal Ford.

With much effort the four police officers were able to place Ehrlich into the patrol car.

William Stevens Ehrlich III has been charged with four counts: a class A misdemeanor of assault in the fourth degree for attempting to cause harm to officer Vaclaviveck, a class C misdemeanor of assault in the fourth degree for threatening the hotel employee, a class A misdemeanor of resisting an arrest and a class B misdemeanor of trespassing in the first degree after remaining unlawfully at the hotel.
