Cow Bingo coming to Rogersville park

Posted

Webster County Cow Bingo is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Rogersville City Park (270 County Line Road). The bingo event will be from 2-6 p.m. It will also include a kids costume contest, chili pie supper, silent dessert auction, guest speakers, prizes, candy, and more. The fundraiser will support the Mitzi Hosmer Scholarship Fund, and all proceeds from the event will go towards the scholarship.

What is cow bingo?

Cow Bingo is a game where players try to guess which number on a grid a wandering cow will "pick." For this bingo, the number will be randomized for each sale, and participants can buy multiple tickets, meaning more chances the cow will pick you.

The winner will receive a $500 cash prize. Depending on the cow, these games can happen quickly or take a while. So, the winner does not have to be present.

The scholarship was created in 2017 and has since awarded $12,800 to date to high school seniors across Webster County. The scholarship got its name from Hosmer, who had many roles in Webster County and always promoted education. This is evident in her 13 children, who are all prominent citizens. Some are Lawyers, Doctors, former State representatives, Judges, teachers, and others who even served on the City Council. Every year, the committee holds a fundraiser to keep the scholarship going.

The Cow Bingo and supper costs $5 per person.

The event will offer something for everyone. Kids and pets will have a chance to participate in a costume contest, and the winners will be picked from three categories: the scariest, the most original, and the cutest. The winners will receive a prize, and everyone will get candy.

If people start to get hungry, the event will serve Chilli Frito pies at 2:30 p.m. for $5 until it is gone and a silent dessert auction. Attendees can bring dessert for the auction if they want.

Attending the event is Judge Justin Evans, who will be one of the guest speakers there to talk about the importance of education.
