Conway Community Days returns for 44th time

Posted

Community Days returns to Conway on Friday, Sept. 8.

Come on out for craft food, a turtle race, the Miss and Mister Community Days Contest, a cornhole tournament, and more trains than you can shake a stick at.

Community Days is trying something different this year: a theme of “trains.”

Held on Spruce St. in Conway, this old-timey town festival has delighted locals and visitors for over four decades, with loads of booths lining both sides of the street, a carnival, and local live music from bands like Marshfield’s very own: The Jetz. Folks should bring a lawn chair to enjoy the music on the new stage.

“Friday is gospel night,” said Connie Frost, an organizer for Community Days. “We have two gospel groups coming out. Then it’s a mixture of bluegrass, rock, and other things.”

The Little Miss and Mister Community Days Contest will kick off the festival on Friday at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Meat Auction at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday’s festivities begin at 9:00 a.m. The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to participate need to go to the top of the hill on Spruce St. by the old school building for the lineup.

Raffles will be available on Saturday starting at 11: a.m. on Saturday.

“We have over 30 businesses that have given us prizes to raffle,” said Frost. “The prizes will be called out every hour or so. We’re raffling off a lot, including cash prizes.”

Check-in for the turtle race is at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The race begins at 12:30 p.m.

The carnival starts in Life 360 Church at noon on Saturday. It closes at 5:00 p.m.

The Big Cash drawing is at 9:00 p.m. followed by fireworks to close the night out.
