Carnivor Festival coming to square

Posted

The Carnivor Festival is back and packed with fun for all ages. The Meat on US 66 first came to Marshfield in 2019 and was championed by local grillmaster Cooper Tyson.

While the event was put on pause in 2020 due to COVID, this year’s competition will take place on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 2 p.m. to midnight. Admission is free for all and will offer concessions, a car show, contests, live music, and more.

“We will have the competition along with a classic car show on Clay Street,” said Jill Phillips, an organizer of the event. “We have five bands set to perform and the stage will be on the northeast courthouse lawn with meat and food vendors along with Crittenden and Madison.”

The bands headlining the event include: Poison Overdose, The Dirty Saints, Papa Green Shoes, Ozarks Travelers, and Flywheel. Vendors will be coming from all around the Ozarks as well as food available from local organizations as well, such as the Rotary Club. There will also be beer, wine, lemon drop moonshine, and margaritas for sale for those who are interested.

“We will have a great variety of meat-based meals and lots of entertainment for those who attend,” she said. “The proceeds from the festival will help our committee bring the new Route 66 Roadside Park at Rifle Range and CC/Hubble to life.”

According to Phillips, they will also use funds to help promote and preserve Webster County's stretch of Route 66. More info about these projects can be found on Facebook under The Webster County Route 66 Initiative.
