Barc-ee's to open in Marshfield July 1

A new business is expected to open in Marshfield July 1, which is expected to draw a large number of tourists and travelers along I-44.

Barc-ee's, an innovative attraction catering to travelers, their children, and their dogs, is excited to announce its grand opening on July 1 of this year. According to a recent press release, Barc-ee's will be located along Interstate 44 at 140 York Drive, Marshfield, aiming to provide a unique and engaging experience for all visitors.

John Lopez, a serial entrepreneur, is the visionary behind Barc-ee's, a concept inspired by the well-known Buc-ee's.

"Barc-ee's is the first of its kind where it's a traveling dog spot," said Lopez. "Most of the time when you're traveling with your dog, you're kind of just holding the leash while you're pumping gas."

Barc-ee's will feature a 7,500-square-foot facility that includes a dog park, coffee shop, food options, games, and a Western-themed miniature city for kids. The attraction aims to create a fun and convenient stop for families and their furry companions.

Lopez has partnered with Sherif Magd, owner of MacCheesy’s and The Kebab Shack, to offer new dining concepts at Barc-ee's. In addition to these dining options, the attraction will showcase Amish pies, ice cream, antiques, and is working on a deal to add a Tesla charging station.

In a playful nod to Buc-ee's, Barc-ee's plans to advertise along I-44 up to 600 miles out with billboards featuring friendly jabs at its inspiration, including a potential sign featuring a dog and a beaver. According to the press release, Lopez's legal team has confirmed there are no issues with the similar names.

The project represents an initial investment of around $550,000, with the company currently valued at $1 million. Lopez has secured a five-year lease with options with Cure Management Group for the Marshfield site.

Lopez's entrepreneurial portfolio includes ventures such as Old Route 66 Wellness dispensary, K9s for Camo Inc., and Howliday Inn Pet Resort. He also has plans to open several dispensaries in New Jersey.

Barc-ee's aims to become a beloved stop for travelers, with plans to expand to 25 locations along major highways if the initial concept proves successful.
