Edward Donald Caudle, 84, Marshfield, Missouri, formerly of Conway, Missouri, son of Burness Edward and Ada Bell (Lindsay) Caudle, was born Jan. 15, 1935, and departed this life on June 27, 2019, in Mercy Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Ed was united in marriage to Florene Scurlock on Oct. 7, 1955, and to this union four children were born. Edward spent his entire life doing what he loved most, farming. He dairied until 1997, then changed to beef cattle. During those years, he served on the board of directors of Farm Bureau and MFA. He and Florene continued farming until 2011, at which time they retired to their current home in Marshfield.
In his earlier years, Ed loved pulling his Oliver tractors in the local tractor pulls, raising stock dogs, bird hunting and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids show their registered Holstein heifers at the local fairs. In his later years, he enjoyed watching NASCAR with his brother-in-law and his son prior to their passings.
Edward loved to talk. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, young or old. He never met a stranger. He was a longtime member of Conway First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Carla Faye Bertoldie and Terry Lynn Warren; son, Dennis Edward Caudle; great-granddaughter, Hollie Jane Bertoldie; two brothers, Darrell and Albert Caudle; three brothers-in-law, Alva, Alvin and Dean Scurlock; and one sister-in-law, Catheryn Richardson.
Edward is survived by his loving wife Florene Caudle, Marshfield, Missouri; one daughter, Sherry Hightower of Conway; two sons-in-law, Tony Bertoldie (Pam) and James Warren, both of Conway; eight grandchildren, John Warren (Jennifer), D.J. Warren (Shayna), Lindsay Warren (Seth), Michelle Brinkley, Matthew Hightower (Bekah), Lori Mauk (Jamie), Jeremy Bertoldie (Mary Anne) and Dana McClure (Kyle); 28 great-grandchildren, Macie, Alleigh, Clara, Macoy, Madilyn, Alexis, Audrey, Avah, Abel, Kaylee, Shelby, Jackson, Brody, Fynleigh, Fallyn, Todd, Tyson, Corbin, Colton, Abbie, Kory, Maggie, Zachary, Austin, Collin, Kayleigh, Eric and Scott; one great-great-grandchild, Kaislee; one sister, Ilene Lee; three sisters-in-law, Areta Smith, JoAnn and Pauline Scurlock; one brother-in-law, Owen (Gabby) Richardson; as well as a host of family and friends.
He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral services for Edward Donald Caudle were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Day Funeral Home, Marshfield, with burial in Marshfield Cemetery, Marshfield, Missouri. Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, July 1, in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Cemetery or Marlin Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
