Surrounding communities are invited to attend an event in Buffalo Oct. 14. The Meyongo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is hosting an informative event to assist those interested in how to find their ancestors and tracing lineage to a Patriot who participated in the American Revolutionary War.
“Our main goal is to assist persons interested in genealogy and to streamline the application process for anyone interested in joining the DAR,” read a statement from the Meyongo Chapter. “This is why we encourage people to bring any documentation they possess that may be needed, especially when tracing their lineage to a patriot. Examples of valuable documents include: Birth Certificates, Death Certificates, Obituaries, Wills, Marriage License and any other items of that nature.”
The event will have trained genealogists present to provide guidance and assistance to both women and men interested in learning about their heritage. It will take place at the DAV Hall, located at 1100 North Maple on Oct. 14 from noon to 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
