Health unit expands mobile resources

Posted

In an effort to reach a greater number of its residents, the Webster County Health Unit is announcing an expansion of its mobile public health outreach program. Scott Allen, Administrator for the Health Unit says “By adding these additional visits across the county, we hope to address the needs of our county’s most vulnerable residents”. Allen went on to explain “This change will have us visiting many of the homes of our seniors, some of who can’t travel for routine healthcare services”.

Lisa Tindall, Nursing Supervisor for the mobile public health program points out that “With little exception, we are able to provide all of the services provided in our Marshfield clinic, in our mobile unit”. Services offered include:

Home COVID-19 Test Kits

Well Water Testing Kits

Medication Disposal Pouches

Blood Pressure Screenings

Blood Sugar Monitoring

Nursing Consultations

Immunizations

Laboratory Specimen Collections (when ordered by a physician)

Webster County’s mobile public health unit is staffed with a nurse and health educator, so can provide health related education on a number of topics, in addition to a myriad of nursing services. In addition to its public visits, the unit is available to provide onsite services to organizations (schools, churches, youth groups) and businesses. Since the introduction of the program less than a year ago, over 1000 services have been provided out of the mobile unit.
