Week 9 Football Recap

Headed to Districts!

Week nine of the football season has ended. How did other teams of Webster County do against their opponents?

For starters, Marshfield took on Springfield Catholic, where lots of feathers were seen flying. The Bluejays started strong in the first half of the game. #11 Bryant Bull would pass to #3 Marcus Gritts, who ran the ball 42-yards and scored the game’s first touchdown. With less than two minutes left in the second quarter #11 Bull passed to #14 Joe Harles for a total of 15-yards, scoring for the Bluejays. With a minute and some change in the same quarter #10 Andrew Beckner would intercept S.C.’s pass and turn it over for the Jays at S.C.’s 45-yard line. Not wasting that opportunity, #11 Bull, again, used that excellent arm and complete a 45-yard pass to #18 Tyce Jones for Marshfield’s third touchdown. The Jays would continue flying and fighting, winning against Springfield Catholic with a final score of 38-7.

Strafford faced off against the Skyline Tigers. Strafford’s #7 Jourdyn Edelstein, made a 34-yard touchdown pass to #82 Isaac Berg in the first quarter. That same quarter would see #10 Ryder Ross not only intercept a pass but then run the ball a total of 24-yards scoring another touchdown for Strafford. Next, #7 Edelstein would flex his arm and make a 67-yard pass to #3 AK Rael earning another touchdown for Strafford. #4 Bradlee Mullins would make his mark. After catching the kickoff, Mullins would make an incredible 73-yard run and score a touchdown. Strafford celebrated its big win against Skyline/Mack Creek with a final score of 61-14.

We will have both teams in their respective districts this Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. Strafford (5-4) will battle it out with Ava (6-3). The Marshfield Bluejays (5-4) will have a chance at redemption as they will host the McDonald County Mustangs (5-4). Best of luck to Strafford and Marshfield, and until next week I will see you at the game!
