Friends of the Marshfield FFA to host concert fundraiser

Posted

Friends of the Marshfield FFA have announced a night with Confederate Railroad, along with special guest, White Oak revival Saturday, November 2 at the Carl and Glessie Young Auditorium. All prroceeds for this concert will go to the Marshfield FFA.

Matt Manary, Randall Hathcock and Mike Totten are fathers of FFA students/graduates and are the “Friends” behind the event. FFA Advisors Cron and Tanner were talking to the three about FFA fruit sales and while the fruit did well, the meat, spices and other stuff didn’t do as well, which spurred them to seek other ideas for how to substitute those funds. According to Totten, this drove the founding of Friends of the Marshfield FFA and the conception of a concert fundraiser.

“The booster club does a lot of fundraising for the FFA, they do a great job for the scholarships and a lot of that kind of stuff, but we decided to turn around and raise some money to go directly to Cron and Tanner for everyday expenses,” said Totten. “If they go on a trip, for example, normally they have to go to the booster club for spending money for the kids, but this way they will have a little more flexibility with everyday costs for things like that.”

Tickets for the Confederate Railroad show will go on sale May 1 and will be $40 per ticket. Tickets will be available at five local retailers and will be cash only. Ticket locations are: Marshfield Machinery, Old School Milling, Show Me Auto Care, Southern Charmed Boutique and Marshfield Electric.

“We want to sell the tickets locally,” Totten explained. “We want to try to open this up to the local county residents first so tickets will be available at these locations.”

The FFA Chapter will be selling concessions before the concert and in-between the opening act and Confederate Railroad, as there is no food or drinks allowed in the auditorium.

Opening the show is local southern red dirt alternative country band White Oak Revival.Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. with an hour of White Oak Revival, followed by Confederate Railroad, who will play a 90 minute set.
