The Marshfield Senior Center will host its first-ever Fiber Fest on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8, providing a wide range of crafting materials and supplies for local enthusiasts. On Saturday, Jan. 25, Marshfield Community Theatre (MCT) hosted its 2025 Award Show at the Jubilee Theater Center, marking the first official event in the space since becoming renters in January. Marshfield Police officers arrested three individuals following a drug-related search warrant on Thursday, January 16 at a residence in the 600 block of South Pine Street. The search, which took place at approximately 3:37 p.m., uncovered multiple drug paraphernalia items and suspected illegal substances. more
A suspect has been arrested in Marshfield in connection with a widespread bank fraud scheme that spanned multiple states and allegedly defrauded financial institutions of nearly $500,000. On Saturday, January 11, the Marshfield Police Department responded to a local bank after a potential forgery was reported. The investigation led to the arrest of David W. Hill, who was found attempting to access a bank account using a fraudulent ID. more

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Farmers Care Foundation has awarded 46 grants to organizations committed to addressing food insecurity in their communities. This marks the fourth year the Missouri Farmers Care Foundation has provided matching grants to Missouri FFA chapters, Missouri 4-H clubs, collegiate, and career and technical education organizations to support efforts to improve local food security. Since 2022, Missouri youth have raised enough resources to provide 481,987 meals in their communities through grant-funded projects. more

Webster Electric Cooperative is holding a writing competition to award two juniors with an all-expensed paid trip to Washington, D.C. as part of the Youth Tour program (June 15-21, 2025) and three sophomores with an all-expensed paid trip to Jefferson City, MO to attend the Cycle Leadership Conference (July 15-18, 2025). These competitions are open to all high school sophomores and juniors (including homeschool) within the Webster Electric service area. more

Christian County, MO – A second skunk collected in Christian County has tested positive for rabies. The first skunk was collected in late December from the Clever area, and the second skunk was collected this week in the Billings area. There have been no reports of any humans being bitten. more

Missouri has officially become the 49th state in the nation to implement hands-free driving laws. As of January 1, 2025, the Siddens Benning Hands-Free Law went into effect, banning the use of handheld electronic devices while driving, a critical step in addressing the state’s rising number of distracted driving-related crashes and fatalities. more

The 2024 Salvation Army red kettle campaign successfully concluded in Webster County. Thanks to the countless volunteers who gave their time during the busy holiday season to this ministry, we were able to raise $27,003.31, of which $22,952.81 (85%) will stay right here in Webster County to help our friends and neighbors with rent, utility, disaster and transportation assistance, as well as helping with back to school clothing vouchers. more
