The Webster County Republican Central Committee is heading into a busy fall, with several events and activities planned over the next few weeks.
Committee member Kent Christon said the group recently held its monthly meeting, where Chairman Sam Hunsucker gave members an update on meetings he attended in Jefferson City as part of his duties as chairman.
The committee also welcomed Lori Rook as its guest speaker. Rook spoke to members for about 20 to 25 minutes.
Members also discussed the committee's involvement in Harvest Days in downtown Marshfield. The group planned to have a booth at the event as part of its community outreach.
Looking ahead, the committee discussed an upcoming fundraiser involving State Rep. Darin Chappell and Will Worsham, the Republican nominee for Missouri House District 129.
The barbecue and bluegrass event is scheduled for Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. at Rogersville Community Park.
Christon said committee members also began planning for Lincoln Days, the group's largest annual fundraiser. The event is scheduled for the fourth Saturday in March.
The committee's next regular meeting is planned for Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Webster County Justice Center. Christian said the evening begins at 6 p.m., with pizza at 6:30 and the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held on the first floor.
Another event is planned for Oct. 29 at Cross Bridge Baptist Church.
Christon said the candidate forum will begin at 7 p.m. and will be led by Pastor Jeff Mann. Local candidates will be invited to participate and answer questions, with a question-and-answer period planned at the end of the forum.
