The November general election is getting closer, and Webster County residents who still need to register to vote have a deadline coming up.
The deadline for new voters to register for the Nov. 3 election is Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Webster County Clerk Stan Whitehurst said there are several ways to get registered.
“You can register online, by mail, or you can register in person at any library or city hall in the county,” Whitehurst said.
Registration is also available at the driver’s license office or the Webster County Courthouse in Marshfield.
Online registration has become increasingly popular in recent years and is available through the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office.
Missourians can register beginning at age 17 1/2, but they must be 18 by Election Day to cast a ballot.
Whitehurst said this is also a good time for people who have recently moved to make sure their voter registration has the correct address.
“A little preparation now could save you time on Election Day,” Whitehurst said.
The Nov. 3 election is now just a few weeks away, so Whitehurst encourages anyone who is not registered, or isn't sure their information is current, to take care of it before the deadline.
