Vets invited to attend assembly at MHS

Posted

The community is warmly invited to the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Marshfield High School on November 8, 2024. This important event will honor the service and sacrifice of our veterans, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the school auditorium.

Tom Tomlinson, Commander of the Webster County Veterans Memorial Association, coordinates the ceremony, working closely with local veterans to create a meaningful agenda.

“Veterans Day is a time for us to come together and honor those who have served our country,” said Tomlinson. “We encourage everyone to join us in showing appreciation for our veterans and their families.”

The ceremony will feature participation from student body officers and the Student Council, who will introduce the service songs. “Our band will play the songs for each branch of service, and veterans from those branches will stand and be recognized,” explained Marshfield Principal Nicki Thompson. “We are always proud as a high school to host this assembly and welcome in the veterans to thank them for their service.”

A special highlight of the event will be a speech from featured speaker, ABE1 Floyd Beamer, a Navy veteran. Following his address, the band will perform “God Bless America,” leading into the solemn tribute of TAPS, honoring our deceased veterans.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for a complimentary breakfast hosted by the FFA chapter, starting at 8:15 a.m. in the school cafeteria. “This will be a great opportunity for veterans and their families to fellowship before the assembly begins,” Thompson noted.

Join us in this meaningful observance as we reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans. The ceremony is open to all and serves as a reminder of the strength and unity of our community in honoring those who have served.
