A new nonprofit is shining light in Webster County through service and support. Shine Through Faith, a 501(c)(3) organization based in Marshfield, has opened the Pre-Loved store at 900 W. Washington St., Suite 220, in the former Marshfield Thrift Barn location.
Founded by Heather Rodriguez, Shine Through Faith focuses on building relationships through acts of service, with a special emphasis on helping senior citizens remain in their homes longer. Volunteers—ideally youth from the community—assist with small but meaningful tasks such as mowing grass, pulling weeds, cleaning, making minor home repairs, or even changing oil.
“I think the elderly are often forgotten because they don’t ask for help,” Rodriguez explained. “What we might see as a small task could be a big stress for them. Our mission is to relieve those burdens and sprinkle blessings throughout the community.”
The nonprofit is funded through sales from its Pre-Loved thrift store, where Rodriguez said the focus is not only on affordability but also on meeting needs as they arise. “We keep our prices super low so everyone feels comfortable shopping,” she said. “But if I learn of someone in need and I can help, I’m going to. We also provide blessing boxes with food, medical supplies, and personal hygiene items—all free for those who need them.”
Rodriguez purchased the former Thrift Barn in July and opened the Pre-Loved store in August. She emphasized that Shine Through Faith operates differently from a traditional thrift store. “We are completely volunteer-run. I don’t take a penny from this—everything goes back into helping the community,” she said.
Community members who know of a senior in need can fill out a referral form on the organization’s website. Likewise, anyone interested in lending a hand is encouraged to sign up as a volunteer.
