A Marshfield man was taken into custody earlier this month after police say they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession during a response to reported drug activity at a local business.
According to the Marshfield Police Department, officers were dispatched on July 8, 2025, to the parking lot of a business at 1260 Spur Drive following a report of four people using drugs inside a champagne-colored Buick Regal.
When officers arrived around 3:56 p.m., they observed four individuals in and around the vehicle. One of the men, identified as Dillon James Hearod, matched the description given by the caller: a bald male wearing a white tank top. Officers recognized Hearod from prior encounters and noted he was carrying a black bag over his shoulder.
Police said Hearod initially denied the bag was his, but later admitted ownership after other occupants also denied it belonged to them.
Hearod reportedly became emotional, telling officers he had relapsed the week before and that there was methamphetamine inside the bag.
According to the probable cause statement, Hearod consented to a search of the bag and directed officers to its contents. Police said they recovered a glass pipe wrapped inside the main pocket and two baggies of a crystalline substance from a smaller pocket.
The items field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Hearod was arrested and booked into the Webster County Jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Court records note he is currently on parole for prior convictions of possession of a controlled substance and tampering with a motor vehicle.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
