Off to Neverland

With happy thoughts and a pinch of pixie dust, the Marshfield Community Theater (MCT) will take audiences off to Neverland in the upcoming performance of "Disney's Peter Pan Jr.", featuring performances from kids ages 5 to 18 from all over the area.

The show will run two weekends at the MCT building at 430 McNabb Rd, Marshfield, starting Sept. 28 through Sept. 30 and Oct. 5 through Oct. 7.

Showtimes will be as follows:

Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 - 7 p.m.

Sept. 30 - 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Oct. 5 and Oct. 6 - 7 p.m.

Oct. 7 - 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Advance tickets can be purchased on the MCT website, www.marshfieldteater.org, with $10 for adults 18 and up and $5 for all ages below, plus fees. Tickets will also be sold on the day of performances.

The production will serve as entertainment for audiences and a fundraiser, as every ticket sold will go towards the Education Institute Scholarship Program.

"The profit we make from ticket sales goes to our scholarship program to help kids have the opportunity to participate in our programs," said Grace Billingsley, Education Administrative Director for the Marshfield Community Theater. "We serve so many families from Marshfield and other rural communities in our area that rely on the scholarship. So every ticket sale is very much appreciated."

Being an Institute performance, the show will give the kids and teens a moment under the spotlight. Production includes:

Allegra Schaefer, Choreographer

Mililani Kloster, Assistant Choreographer

Kristen Walker, Music Director

"We have some awesome instructors," said Billingsley. "For Dylan Bradly, this show will be his first time directing with us. Kristen Walker came back as our music director, and Allegra Schaefer is choreographing the show for the first time, and they're really, really, amazing."

Another noteworthy detail about this production is that a few students have stepped up to the challenge of helping out behind the scenes.

"Mililani Kloster is the assistant choreographer for this production," said Billingsley. "She was one of our Ariels in The Little Mermaid this summer. Ian Thompson is our assistant director. So it is really cool for this experience that we're able to feature some of our kids on the creative aspect as well. That's something new for us that we haven't been able to do before. But it's really amazing as their teacher to see them shine in areas when they're not performing."

If that is not enough, the shows will be a first for MCT as it will be performed outside.

"We're building the stage from scratch in our parking lot," said Billingsley. "As far as I know, this is the first time we've done a license play outside under the stars."
