Arvest Bank is celebrating another successful Million Meals campaign, with a boost for food pantries across the Ozarks, including the Webster County Food Pantry in Marshfield.
The annual campaign, now in its 16th year, raised enough money to provide more than 3 million meals across Arvest's four-state footprint. In the Springfield region alone, more than $35,000 was raised to support local food pantries.
Chandler Johnston, Arvest's vice president and community marketing manager for Springfield, said the campaign is timed each spring because food pantries often see greater demand during the summer when children are home from school.
Johnston said the campaign is powered by employees, customers, local businesses, and community volunteers. Bank associates organize fundraisers ranging from bake sales to friendly competitions to raise money and spread awareness about hunger.
Along with raising funds, Arvest employees also volunteer at area food pantries, helping serve families throughout the Ozarks.
Johnston said the campaign's success comes from neighbors helping neighbors, and that's what has kept it growing for the past 16 years.
