MDC Hosts Women’s Fishing Day

Posted

Women looking to spend a day fishing — or maybe give trout fishing a try for the first time — will have a free opportunity later this month at Bennett Spring State Park.

The Missouri Department of Conservation will host Women's Free Fishing Day from 7:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon.

No fishing license or daily trout tag fee will be required for women participating in the event. Free trout tags can be picked up at the park store the evening before the event or anytime during the day Saturday.

A portion of the park's Zone 2 fishing area will be reserved for participants.

And beginners shouldn't be afraid to give it a try.

Volunteers will be available throughout the day to help anglers, and members of the Bennett Spring Fly Tying Group will offer live demonstrations.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment.

The event is sponsored by MDC, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Bennett Spring State Park Store, Capital City Fly Fishers and the Bennett Spring Fly Tying Group.

Bennett Spring State Park is located at 26142 Highway 64A near Lebanon.
