Local Station Earns Statewide Recognition

Posted

College of the Ozarks radio station KCOZ has earned statewide recognition after taking first place in the Small Market Radio Social Media Star category at the 2026 Missouri Broadcasters Association Awards.

The award recognizes radio stations that excel in social media through creativity, audience engagement and strong station branding.

KCOZ is the college's student-run radio station, featuring indie and alternative Christian music around the clock. Students handle everything from on-air programming to social media, giving them hands-on experience in broadcasting and communications.

Recent graduates Chloe Main and Jazmine Green, along with junior Emma Leigh Morris, managed the station's social media accounts. Their posts highlighted everyday life at KCOZ with behind-the-scenes photos, lighthearted moments and staff introductions that helped followers connect with the station.

"One of the wonderful things about attending the MBA Awards each year is that our students get to experience their hard work being recognized, not by their student peers, but by industry professionals from across the state of Missouri," said Drew Russell, KCOZ general manager and workstation supervisor. "Our students do a tremendous job creating a radio station that our entire campus and surrounding community can be proud of."

This year's first-place finish builds on last year's success, when KCOZ earned second place in the same category.
