Harvest Days offers vendors, pumpkin chunkin' and more

Posted

The square will soon be alive with the sights, sounds, and flavors of fall as Marshfield Harvest Days returns Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19–20, in downtown Marshfield.

The annual event will feature a variety of vendors set up around the Webster County Courthouse Square. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

On Saturday morning, festival-goers can enjoy a local favorite—Pumpkin Chunkin’, set for 10 a.m. on the south side of the square. Later that afternoon, the square will host the “Favorite Fall Baking Contest and Big Bake-Off.” Contestants are asked to bring their entries to the gazebo by 12:45 p.m. Judging begins at 1 p.m., and winners will be announced shortly afterward. Entries should be submitted in disposable containers and include the recipe.

“We’ve had the bake-off for several years, but it just hasn’t taken off like we’d hoped. This year, we’re really pushing to get more entries,” said Rachel Andrews, one of the event organizers.

“There are bragging rights, of course, but there’s also a cash prize.”

While the contest provides a little extra competition, Andrews emphasized that Harvest Days is also about community and supporting local businesses.

“A lot of our vendors are local,” she said. “You’ll see many of them when you’re out shopping week to week. This is how some of them make their living, and we just need to support them.”

The event will also feature plenty of food trucks and shopping vendors, offering everything from handmade crafts to seasonal treats.

Harvest Days will be held at 101 S. Crittenden St., Marshfield. Vendor spots are still available. For more information or to register, visit the official festival link at marshfieldfestivals.wufoo.com.

Organizers remind the public that the official event team, Jennifer Smith, Dale Hartwell, and Rachel Andrews, will be the only ones contacting vendors, and payments are accepted only by cash, check, or money order.
