Family Fun Planned at Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites

Posted

Missouri state parks and historic sites are gearing up for a busy June filled with family-friendly activities, outdoor adventures, and a few chances to celebrate some history along the way.

One of the biggest events is the 100th anniversary celebration at Sam A. Baker State Park on June 13. Visitors can enjoy exhibits, bluegrass music, historic demonstrations, and tours highlighting the park's first century. Admission is free.

Earlier in the month, Bollinger Mill State Historic Site will welcome visitors for a summer kickoff event featuring mill tours, games, food vendors, bubble stations, and bounce houses.

Bird lovers can head to Echo Bluff State Park on June 6 for the annual Birds and Blossoms Festival. The event includes a live bird show, educational exhibits, crafts, and wildlife-themed activities for all ages.

For those looking for something a little more adventurous, Onondaga Cave State Park will once again offer its popular off-trail Cathedral Cave tours. Participants will spend several hours exploring parts of the cave not seen on regular tours, complete with climbing, crawling, and a little mud.

Later in the month, the park will also host a Starry Sky Night event where visitors can view planets, stars, and other celestial sights through a high-powered telescope.

State park officials say the events are designed to give families a chance to enjoy Missouri's natural beauty while learning more about the state's history, wildlife, and outdoor recreation opportunities.
