City of Marshfield offices have officially returned to City Hall following the completion of a remodel aimed at addressing space limitations and long standing infrastructure needs.
City Administrator Sam Rost said staff resumed operations in the newly renovated building, located at 798 South Marshall, last Wednesday after offices were closed Monday and Tuesday to allow for the move.
City employees had been working out of a temporary location, the annex building just down from City Hall on A Highway, since April while construction was underway.
Rost said the remodel was driven by the need for additional space and improved efficiency as the city has grown.
“We had three people stacked up in a few different offices,” Rost said. “We had outgrown our meeting space and our ability to operate efficiently with current staff. This project was about creating room for current staff and planning for future growth.”
City Hall was originally built in 1978 and had seen little to no upgrades over the years aside from basic maintenance. Rost said the improvements were overdue and focused on creating a more functional and welcoming space for both staff and the public.
The annex building will continue to be used for public meetings moving forward, allowing them to utilize more space when remodeling City Hall. Board of Aldermen, Planning and Zoning, Parks Board and Cemetery Board meetings will still be held there. The annex will also now house the Parks Department, which previously operated with three employees out of a small shared office space.
The newly remodeled City Hall will handle services related to utility payments, building permits, burn permits, garage sale permits and business licenses. Parks related services, including youth sports registration, pool rentals and park reservations, will continue to be handled at the annex.
The remodel was completed by Buck Keltner Construction, a local contractor based in Strafford. Rost said the city solicited multiple contractors for the project, with Keltner Construction submitting the only bid. He added that the contractor came highly recommended and completed the project through a design build process.
Several local subcontractors were also involved in the project, including Days Flooring and SignEffex, which completed the building signage.
Rost encouraged residents to visit City Hall with any of their questions or needs.
“We are working to make everything developer friendly and customer friendly,” Rost said. “If people have questions, we want them to come see us.”
City offices are now fully open and operational. More information is available at www.marshfieldmo.gov or by calling 417 859 2352.
