A Team Ribbon Cutting In Marshfield

Posted

If you’ve spent much time around Marshfield, you’ve probably heard the name Andrew Michael.

He’s the owner of The A Team Wash. Member of the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce. And even though he’ll tell you he’s not originally from here, his roots run deeper than some folks might expect.

Andrew grew up on a farm in northwest Missouri. But his great-grandfather farmed near Elkland built houses around Marshfield. Quite a few of them. Andrew doesn’t remember the exact number, but he knows there are still families living in homes his great-grandpa built with his own hands. That

The family name has been tied to town for years. Hartwell Hardware served the community for a long stretch. His uncle works at the Marshfield Lumberyard. A cousin works at the Chamber. So while Andrew may not have started here, Marshfield has always been part of his story.

Now he’s building his own chapter.

The A Team Wash has been steadily working in town. Last year, they washed the Webster County Courthouse. More commercial jobs are in the works. Residential homes, too. Spring and summer keep them busy.

This time of year, house washing is big. Vinyl siding. Stucco. The usual Missouri grime. Andrew focuses on soft washing, which simply means letting the detergent do most of the work instead of blasting everything with high pressure. It’s safer. It keeps siding from getting scarred up. And it avoids that chalky, streaked look you sometimes see when vinyl is hit too hard.

Roof washing is another service that’s picking up. Those black streaks on shingles aren’t just dirt. They’re bacteria feeding on the limestone in the shingles. As that limestone breaks down, the granules loosen. Over time, that can shorten the life of a roof. Soft washing removes the bacteria without damaging the shingles, and it’s the method approved by roofing manufacturers so warranties stay intact.

Andrew admits he finds the science behind it pretty interesting. Clean the bacteria off, help the shingles last longer.

Gutters are handled the old-fashioned way. Hand scooped. No leaf blower shooting debris all over the yard. After that, they flush the system, check downspouts, and handle minor repairs. If something bigger shows up, Andrew refers homeowners to a gutter specialist.

Driveways, sidewalks, and patios get the same careful approach. They pretreat surfaces, clean them with a large surface cleaner, then post-treat to slow algae from coming back. In Missouri humidity, it will return eventually. But the goal is to make it last as long as possible.

One thing customers ask about is hot water. Andrew says most of the time, you don’t need it. Cold water and the right detergent usually get the job done. And for unusual stains on tricky surfaces, he works with a local chemist in Springfield who can mix a custom solution. That extra step helps protect whatever surface they’re cleaning.

At the end of the day, Andrew says it’s about serving family and neighbors. Many of them still live right here in Marshfield. Reputation travels fast in a small town.
