The Webster Lodge #98 is hosting a chili, soup and gumbo lunch with desserts and drinks on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will feature a spread of soup, chili and gumbo with all the fixins and costs just $5 per person, $2 for kids ages 5-12, and children 5 and under are free.
Proceeds from this event will benefit Parents as Teachers, Marshfield.
“The Masonic fraternity is always in favor of children’s charities and tries to help children. This cuts right to getting these kids on the right path for school and seeing that their other needs are met,” said Champ Herren of the Lodge. “Many of these children's are in an adoption situation or raised by grandparents or another relative and they those people need support.”
Through the Masonic Home of Missouri’s matching component, the Webster Lodge is able to increase the amount of money raised.
“For every dollar we raise, the amount we donate could actually be doubled or tripled,” he added. “We hope to have a good turnout and urge everyone to come out for some gumbo for a great cause.”
The Lodge recently presented the check to the Marshfield School District’s Backpack Program totaling $7,500 and the Strafford Masonic Lodge #608 donated $10,500 to the Niangua School District Backpack Program. The funds were a result of the 23rd annual truck and tractor pull that was held in June.
Last week, Brothers Kerry Proctor and Bob Choate were presented with their 50 year pins from the Grand Lodge of Missouri. Pins were presented by Worshipful Brother Pat Blinzler and they were each pinned by their wives.
