Running for Rogersville Parks

Posted

On the evening of June 10, a crowd gathered at the Rogersville Community Park. Many were there to participate in the fifth annual Bandit 5k hosted by the Rogersville Friends of the Park. This non-profit organization is run solely by volunteers who put all the funds towards hosting events and park projects.

Last year the friends donated $13,000 towards a walking trail and equipment; this year, though, they are setting their sights on something more radical... building a skate park for Rogersville.

"This is an even larger commitment than our last project," said a Rogersville Friends of the Park representative. "A skatepark won't happen overnight, but we see the potential in this project."

Thanks to sponsors, volunteers, participants, and t-shirts, the 5K was a success. "

We don't have the final numbers, yet," explained the representative, "But it should bring in approximately $2,500 in proceeds for Rogersville Friends of the Park."
