Michael Taylor: the man behind gear

Posted

The city of Marshfield has many forms of public safety. When an accident or fire occurs, it will not be long until the town hears those familiar Marshfield Fire Protection District sirens coming to the rescue. Fire Chief Michael Taylor leads the staff and team of firefighters and first responders.

Taylor first joined the district in 1989 as a firefighter; sixteen years later, in 2005, he became Chief. He is also a licensed paramedic and certified EMS instructor. He also served as the Marshfield Director of Emergency Medical Services from 1995 to 2019.

Taylor wears many hats around the area. He is not only the fire chief but, since 2004, is the Webster County Coroner. Under that role, Taylor is a member of the Missouri Coroner and Medical Examiners Association Board of Directors and, in 2022, was named Chairman of the Coroner’s Standards and Training Commission. Before that, he received Medicolegal Death Investigator training from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and earned an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University.

With someone of this many talents, Marshfield and Webster County as a whole are honored to have someone like this serving the community.
