The livestock judgings are alive and well in Webster County as local residents inject energy into what may be the biggest livestock showcase the county has seen in years.
The Webster County Fair Livestock Show will take place throughout the week of the Fourth. Participants will receive a t-shirt as soon as their animal is entered into the fair book.
Sheep will be shown at 6 p.m., followed by bottle calves at 7 p.m. the same day. Thursday's show will be dairy cattle beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by the swine show at 6 p.m.
The junior livestock shows will take place on Friday, July 7th at 4 p.m. followed by the meat goat show.
Saturday will have participants showcasing beef cattle at 9 a.m. and poultry and 11 a.m.
Juniors will be awarded plaques sponsored by Gordan Feed & Pet. The top eight winners in junior livestock and dairy judging will be awarded medals sponsored by Show-Me Genetics. Awards will be given either during or following the show to recognize the work put into the exhibitor's livestock.
"We expect to have a good showing for this years swine show, especially," says Webster County Fair Board President Eugene Cantrell.
Rules for the livestock show are as follows:
1. Livestock shows are open to all Missouri State FFA and 4-H members and all Webster County youth and all Webster county adults who reside in the county and pay county property tax.
2. Livestock superintendents will do all the stalling of livestock, be in charge of the show and shall in case of question, rule on interpretations of the regulations and determine cases not covered by regulation.
3. Returned entry checks will result in loss of premiums and rejection of future entries
4. All livestock checks will be VOID if not cashed in 90 days.
5. Beef and Sheep must be registered, dairy cattle must be purebred. Proof of ownership is required.
6. Not more than 2 premiums will awarded in any single class to one exhibitor. An animal is eligible to be shown in one department only.
7. Animals must meet all HEALTH REQUIREMENTS set forth by the state of Missouri. The Webster Co Fair board assumes no responsibility for accidents to animals or the spread of communicable diseases among same.
