Hitting the right chords at State

April was a musical month for schools, as it was time for the District and State Music Festivals. Fordland, Marshfield, and Logan-Rogersville received numerous exemplary ratings at the District festival on April 11.

Highlights from Fordland's Band include the following:

Christina Zubillaga performed a Flute Solo.

Hailey Biehl, Emily Melton, and Kolton Peck performed a Clarinet Trio.

Lillian Moreland performed a Mallets Solo.

Scarlet Gilchrist performed a Flute Solo.

Then on April 29, the State Music Festival was held; school bands and choirs from all over the state gathered to sing and play their hearts out.

Logan-Rogerville's High School Band had 18 students earn Gold ratings, and seven earned Silver ratings.

For the Marshfield High School Choir, three students attended and received the following ratings:

Bryna Norman performed a vocal solo and earned Gold.

Shayla Smith performed a vocal solo and earned Silver.

Luke Rockwood performed a vocal solo making Silver, and a Piano Solo, where he made Gold.

Marshfield High School band also sent its members and earned one Gold, five Silver, and four Bronze ratings, which are the following:

Ian Thompson performed a Tuba Solo and earned Gold.

Ethan Rockwood performed a Marimba Solo and earned Silver.

Luke Rockwood performed a Marimba Solo and earned Silver.

Ethan Rockwood, Skylar Heinzel, Lauren Replogle, Juliet Boggs, Liam Bergthold, Sally McHardy, Dalley Dees, and Cayley Dooly, who performed a Percussion Octet and earned Silver.

Zane Wood, Andrew Whitecotton, Mekenzie Gideon, Ian Thompson, Jordan Steen, and Avery Byars performed a Brass Sextet and earned Silver.

Andrew Adams performed a Trumpet Solo and earned Silver.

Avery Byars performed a Trumpet Solo and earned Bronze.

Hayden Shultz performed a Tuba Solo and earned Bronze.

Andrew Whitecotton performed a Trombone Solo and earned Bronze.

Michael Stasiak performed a Clarinet Solo and earned Bronze.
