Greenwood Community Club

The Greenwood Community Club met at the Greenwood Schoolhouse on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2023. Members in attendance were Celina Cron, Betty Templeton, Grace Ray, Belinda Rust, Julie Stevens, Lola Belle Underwood, Evelyn Whitehurst, and Paula Ankrom. Those who were not able to attend were missed.

The meeting was opened with President Betty leading the group in The Pledge of Allegiance. Grace read a devotional titled "It's a Tearful Thing." Belinda read the minutes from the last meeting. Lola Belle gave the treasurer's report.

The August annual ice cream social and pie auction was well attended and very successful. Everyone's participation and donations were greatly appreciated. Members who have not paid their 2023 membership, please contact Lola Belle. Mark your calendars for the annual Community Supper on Oct. 7 at 6:00 p.m. Bring a dish to share. Discussions for offering an education scholarship were had and tabled for a future meeting.

Lola Belle had the program and read an article from a teaching magazine that a teacher wrote in the 1950s. Celina won the hostess gift. Co-hosts Grace and Lola Belle provided snacks and beverages for all to enjoy while having fellowship.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 12 at the schoolhouse with Paula as the hostess.
