DUI pending after daycare crash

Posted

Charges are pending against Jaie Tyson, of Marshfield, after a motor vehicle accident at Maple Street, near Crittenden Dec. 17.

Marshfield Police Officers were dispatched to the Imagination Station entrance of the Marshfield Community Center after the vehicle rolled into the daycare. When officers arrived on scene, they identified the driver as Tyson. According to police, Tyson admitted to using a controlled substance on the other side of town; while he was driving home, he passed out at a stop sign and rolled across the intersection into the daycare.

“This is another example of the broken judicial system where a repetitive drug offender gets breaks in the court system over and over and over and ends up getting out and crashing into a daycare,” said Marshfield Police Chief Doug Fannen. “Thank God there were no children there at the time.”

Fannen noted that Tyson has an extensive criminal history and is currently out on bond for Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Tyson was arrested at the scene and charges were submitted to the Webster County Prosecuting Attorneys office for a DUI. The Mail will have more updates as they become available.
