When you enter the Webster County University of Missouri Extension Center at 800 S. Marshall St in Marshfield, chances are you'll be greeted by Erin Snow, the extension's Administrative Assistant.
Snow has been in the position for over a year and has recently been recognized as MU’s Rookie of the Year. To qualify for the award, recipients must be in their position for one to two years, undergo an evaluation process, and have a letter of recommendation. The last part was something Kyle Whittaker, MU Extension Engagement Specialist, was happy to do.
“She is worthy of recognition,” he beamed. “Administrative Assistants are often the “face” of extension, and Snow is a role model for anyone wanting to provide excellent customer service. She is highly organized and has done much work to make the office run more smoothly daily.”
Snow first joined the MU Extension Center in June of 2022, replacing Donna Eldridge, who held the position for 28 years. When she left, Whittaker admits there was some worry about who would take her place.
“When Eldridge retired, we thought ‘Oh boy’,” chuckled Whittaker. “In all honesty, Snow is fantastic. She had some big shoes to fill, but she jumped right in and is truly an asset to the office and the residents of Webster County.”
After stepping into the role, Snow worked in the office and helped with the overall workflow; Promoting programs offered at the Extension Center, managing social media posts, proofreading and simplifying records, and doing what she can to help the place she calls home.
“Snow cares about helping people in Webster County,” added Whittaker. “This is her home, and she was very involved in 4-H when she was younger. She is very professional when interacting with clients and is willing to help the faculty and staff in any way she can.”
Displaying her willingness and eagerness to help those around her in such a short amount of time, Snow has become a valued member of the MU Extension.
“She is a trusted person in our county, with many clients using our extension services asking for her directly. She is willing to help with events outside the regular workday, said Whittaker. “Snow has an excellent work ethic and pays attention to details and is extremely dependable and takes pride in her work.”
