Webco honors local vets

On Nov. 10, Webco Mannor held a ceremony honoring the veteran residents in their facility. The ceremony was in collaboration with Good Shepard Hospice. During the ceremony, these stars were given out with a note reading, "I am part of our American Flag that has flown over the USA. I can no longer fly. The sun and winds have caused me to become tattered and torn. Please carry me as a reminder that YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN." The stars come from the non profit organization Stars for our Troops.

With Veteran’s Day falling on a Saturday, many schools and businesses honored and celebrated their service early. Such was the case at Webster County Nursing Home District, also known as Webco, with the collaboration of Good Shepard Hospice, which held a ceremony honoring the residents who answered the call to serve.

The ceremony consisted of a small speech thanking the vets for their service and singing “God bless the USA.” The veterans were given a certificate, pin, and stars that once flew on flags. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, and cookies passed out.
