Week 8 Football Recap

We win some and we lose some

Posted

High school football is entering its ninth week. I can hardly believe it myself, but it is true. So before the Friday night lights turn on, let’s look at what happened last week.

Let us set up with Strafford, who played home last week as they took on Lighthouse Sr. High. The citizens of Strafford got to see some incredible plays, which included #7 Jourdyn Edelstein making a 45-yard touchdown pass to # 3 AK Rael during the second quarter. #7 Edelstein using that excellent arm of his, would throw another touchdown pass during the third quarter for 19-yards, this time to # 82 Isaac Berg. However, it was not just the offense that got a chance to shine but the defense flexed its muscles too. Just ask #1 Silas Morton. During the fourth quarter, Morton would intercept a pass from Lighthouse and run the ball an astonishing 86-yards scoring a touchdown for Strafford. The game would end with Strafford winning against Lighthouse 43 — 27.

Roughly 46 miles away, a different game was going on as the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats visited the Reed Springs Wolf den. Highlights include #14 Linkin Ratliff, making an 11-yard touchdown run; #14 Ratliff completing a 12-yard pass to #5 Logan Cook; and # 61 Brayden Kent, who made a fumble recovery. But, try as the Wildcats might, much like the Bluejays, Logan-Rogersville would end up losing to the Reed Spring Wolves 14- 28.

This coming Friday, Oct 21, Strafford (4-4) will travel to Macks Creek to take on Skyline High School (2-6). Meanwhile, returning home this week is the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats (4-4), eager to take on the Aurora Houn’ Dawgs (2-6). See you all at the field.
