SCAM ALERT

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of an individual impersonating a law enforcement officer and contacting residents in Webster County. This individual claims to be a member of the Webster County Sheriff’s Office and informs residents that they have an outstanding warrant. They then demand payment to resolve the issue.

Please be aware that this is a SCAM. The Webster County Sheriff’s Office does not handle outstanding warrants in this manner. We will never contact individuals demanding money for warrant resolution. If you receive such a call, it is fraudulent.

Key Red Flags for Scams:

• A demand for immediate payment
• A request for personal identifying information
• Payment requested via gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency
• Claims of urgency or pressure to act quickly

Remember, it is nearly impossible to recover money once you have fallen victim to such scams. If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of a call, DO NOT provide personal information or make any payments. Instead, contact the relevant agency or company directly using trusted contact information.
