“Built in 1977, the Fordland Senior Housing Authority has 16 apartments that house low-income seniors age 62+ or have a medical disability,” explained Bill Gdanitz, administrator for Fordland and Rogersville Senior Housing located in Fordland, MO.
Operated and maintained solely by Federal funding and grants, the senior housing is a sought after place to stay. “To be very honest there is such a demand for apartments right now for seniors, we have quite a waiting list,” shared Gdanitz.
“We have been very successful with grants. Back in 2015, we received a $176,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank. We completely remodeled the complex, so its updated with all new appliances, concrete sidewalks and patios…,” described Gdanitz. In addition to Federal grants, the organization relies on local grant programs as well.
“Webster Electric has been fantastic to us…they help so many organizations. We will be using our grant for new flooring for four apartments. Safety is one of the most important things…we can’t have flooring that’s dangerous,” expressed Gdanitz about the organizations plans for the grant.

“We have raised gardens, Christmas celebrations, we have organizations that do things for Mother’s Day and Easter. It’s very involved with the community, well maintained, and we take great pride in our complex,” shared Gdanitz.
